Carol W. Garvey, MD
Dr. Carol Wilson Garvey's expertise is in community health planning and policy. As a family practitioner for over two decades, she held major positions in state and county medical societies. As County Health Officer for Montgomery County (1995-2003), she focused public attention on confronting health disparities and on improving pregnancy outcomes. As a community advocate, she has contributed to the expansion of health care access in Montgomery County as a founder (1992) and Chair (2009-2012) of the Primary Care Coalition of Montgomery County. She remains active in a number of community health areas, including continuing work on expanding health care access, eliminating health disparities, improving pregnancy outcomes and reducing childhood obesity rates. As a consultant, she has worked on community benefit program development for non-profit health care providers, community health assessment, community health resources, and community health planning.
